WDDOA FALL 2009 SEASON SCHEDULE CONCERNS
Dec 08 2009 - STAFF
We have received numerous letters from teams with questions, concerns and complaints regarding the D1 Fall 2009 season. We understand your concerns and agree it was a very rough season for all. Mother Nature was unkind and caused rainout/cancelled games at different locations throughout the WDDOA playing area. There were times the weather seemed to have cleared, but the damage was done and parks closed their fields to play. In addition, for the Fall 2009 WDDOA expanded most of the age groups plus offered small sided for the U11/U12 which shifted our neutral sites to several different locations. So when rainouts were experienced we had more teams and more sites to try and fit back into the schedule.

Central Texas experienced 8 full or partial days of rainouts at various locations effecting teams throughout the area. This resulted in a huge amount of reschedules for the 1st round of games. Some age group brackets completed Round 1 prior to other age group brackets which complicated starting Round 2. In addition, the options for “squeezing” in makeup games were limited as some age group brackets were scheduled through the end of the season but needed to play makeup games as well. At Northeast Metro Park alone, there were 207 rescheduled games this season and some games were even rescheduled 5 to 8 times. To complicate rescheduling efforts, teams were requesting additional date/time changes for reschedules. There were tournaments, SAT Exams and yes, another weekend of rampant flu issues to deal with. While trying to accommodate these issues and avoid teams playing two games in one day, time ran out to schedule and complete a second round of games. There were weekends that appeared to be open for reschedule games, but they were already booked with regular season games. In November, a number of soccer complexes and parks started to close for winter maintenance leaving fewer fields for playing. In December additional parks closed until Spring. Resources were limited when dealing with so many reschedules and with teams not being from the same area the problem was compounded. Many teams also committed to play in College Showcases and other tournaments at the beginning of the season. It then became necessary to determine which teams would be placed in various Cup play for the Spring Season, thus the two weekends of games to seed teams for the age groups with two brackets.

There were countless hours dedicated to working and reworking the schedules to come up with solutions that were in the best interest of all. The Board and Staff are passionate about the game and players in our association, but were faced with very limited options despite our best efforts of “thinking outside the box”. WDDOA hired an office assistant to help with the phone calls, field, referee and team coordination for its growing association of 160-plus teams.

We also understand that the teams paid fees with the expectation of 2 rounds of games. The WDDOA Board is reviewing all factors and looking into the possibility of refunds and/or credits for teams. Please allow us time to assess all issues and bring forth a plan of action, not only for the past fall but the upcoming spring season. We appreciate your patience, and again, please know we understand and are reviewing all the concerns brought forth.

GAME CARD / SCORE INPUT INSTRUCTIONS
Sep 18 2009 - STAFF
TEAM MANAGERS:
For the Fall 2009 season we will once again be utilizing all the functions available in the e7 scheduling program. The program offers team managers the ability to login to their team accounts in order to print game cards and input in game scores. Please read the instructions carefully.

TEAM MANAGER GAME CARD / SCORE INPUT INSTRUCTIONS

GAME CARD PRINTING: BEFORE THE GAME...
Please print your game card (report) (prior to EACH game) and take it with you to the field. BOTH managers should print out a report, in case the home team cannot locate the card at the field, the visiting team will have a copy.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT print all your game cards out at one time. Schedules are subject to change. Therefore, we recommend printing them each Friday before the the weekend.

GAME CARD SUBMISSION: AFTER THE GAME...
All game scores should be noted by each team manager and then the official game card (report) will be turned in to the site coordinator by the referee. If you are playing at an alternate location such as WCRP, Slaughter Creek or a weeknight game then there will not be a site coordinator on duty. In this instance, the winning team and/or home team in case of a tie is responsible for returning the game card to the WDDOA office no later than Wednesday of the week following the game. If you choose to email and/or fax the report (512-302-0686) you must still mail in the original game card.
Please mail the card to: WDDOA   P.O. Box 352   Manor, Texas 78653 There will be no exceptions granted on this!
